ORIGIN
Derek Carr is an American professional football player for the Oakland Raiders. He’s 6ft 3in tall and plays the quarterback position. Carr was born to parents Rodger and Sheryl on March 28, 1991 in Fresno, California. He has two older brothers, David and Darren. Carr spent his early childhood in Bakersfield, California followed by Texas then back to California. He attended Clements High School and completed his senior year at Bakersfield Christian High School (BCHS). He continued his education at California State University, Fresno. He majored in recreation administration and leisure services management.

CAREER
Carr played three seasons of high school football at Clements High School in Texas. He started out as a backup and later as the team’s starting quarterback. He threw for 2,868 yards and 28 touchdowns over his sophomore and junior seasons. He also led the team to an impressive 13-0 record for the 2007 season. Carr played 13 games with the BCHS Eagles football team in 2008. He ended the season with 4,067 yards and 46 touchdowns. He was named Private School National Player of the Year.

Carr continued his football career at California State University at Fresno. Other offers on the table included LSU, Arizona, Notre Dame and Texas Tech. Carr took over the starting quarterback position for the Fresno State Bulldogs in Fall 2011. He threw for 12,843 yards and 113 touchdowns for his three seasons at the starting QB position. He won the 2013 Sammy Baugh Trophy and finished in 8th place for the Heisman Trophy. He was also named the 2013 Mountain West Conference Offensive Player of the Year.

Carr was selected by the Oakland Raiders with the 36th overall pick in the 2014 NFL draft. He signed his rookie contract in May 2014 and played his debut game against the New York Jets on September 7, 2014. He became the first rookie quarterback to start a season opener in Raiders history. He ended the season with 3,270 passing yards and 21 touchdowns. Carr was named to his first Pro Bowl in 2016. He was chosen as a replacement for Aaron Rodgers of the Green Bay Packers. Carr suffered a broken fibula on December 24, 2016 in a match against the Indianapolis Colts. He’s out indefinitely following the incident.
